Realistic Resolution # 1: Drink Better. Live Better.

Some people have completely given up on the whole idea of resolutions.  I have not.

I do, however, believe in setting REALISTIC resolutions.  You may remember that I did the same thing last year. Let me tell you that I kept those resolutions.  The only one that fell by the wayside was Date Night this past fall when things went really haywire.

This year, I’m starting off with something so simple that I used to do it all the time, naturally, but somehow over time, this good habit slipped.

I’m talking about drinking more water to stay hydrated. Somehow, over time, in the same manner that I found myself skipping meals,  I found myself forgetting to drink!  This is particularly crazy as I am the person who would always drink A LOT of water.

At home, my hubby and I are pretty good about reminding the kids to drink and we make healthy drinking choices regularly.  By healthy choices I do mean water. Other than a few exceptional days when they get chocolate milk as a treat, it’s water everyday in the kids’ lunchboxes.  In fact, some days when they take chocolate milk, we STILL send water!

We all have reusable water bottles, but the reality is that some nights are SO hectic that we don’t even have time to get them washed in time for the next morning. For those days, we have a few flats of bottled Nestle Pure Life in the garage so that the kids can just grab it on their way out to school.

At the dinner table it’s almost always water, in either still or sparkling format.  ( For this of you who remember my post about this, my kids are BIG fans of sparkling water!) Nestlé Pure Life Sparkling is a favourite, ESPECIALLY the black cherry which we buy in the 1L bottle 🙂

So, how am I going to go about this remembering to drink plan?  I’m actually going to set a little reminder in my phone to drink every 2 hours. I suspect that after a few days (or weeks) it’s going to become habit.

As for the family, we will continue to remind the kids to make healthy drinking choices, and when they see me responding to my own little reminders, chances are they’ll get an additional appreciation for how important it is.  After all , the best way for kids to learn good habits is by following a good example 😉

I will keep you posted on how I’m doing with this Resolution 🙂

Until then, remember to share your own wellness stories with the hashtags #DrinkBetterLiveBetter and #PureLife and head to www.madewithnestle.ca/pure-life to discover more healthy hydration tips!
