I recently saw the preview for Queen of Katwe with my daughter and we both instantly wanted to see the movie. The trailer alone was inspiring!
The movie is based on the vibrant TRUE STORY of a young girl from the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and, as a result of the support she receives from her family and community, is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.

Looks like a beautiful inspirational movie! Great family movie with a message!
“In chess, the small one can become the big one.” I find the story to be so inspiring. There are so many great lessons to be learned even from the trailer. I love the message of dreaming big, and the ability for anyone to achieve great things if they work hard at it. I’d love to see this movie!

I retweeted twice, but I don’t know how to copy the links!!
Not only is it an inspiring universal story but it’s also one of those rare times when Hollywood seems interested in telling stories about poor African women. I would love to take 3 African girls/women with me.
