If I had to state my family’s favourite genre of family movie, I think I would have to say adventure.
We are HUGE fans of National Treasure, Night at the Museum and Journey to the Center of the Earth. I suspect that if there were 12 sequels to each we would have watched them all, some of them twice over 🙂
This summer we decided to give The Adventures of Mickey Matson a chance…and we were happy that we did!
To be honest, we hadn’t heard of the movie before so we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but it came up in the onscreen Netflix suggestions (I suppose based on our tendency to choose adventure movies), so we decided to give it a chance.
Without giving too much away, it is the story of a boy who sets off to find 3 magical objects that can be very dangerous if they should fall into the wrong hands.
I won’t spoil it by telling you about how he embarks upon his journey or about its outcome, but I will tell you that it’s a good, old-fashioned-fun adventure that also involves family issues, growing pains and a bit of history.
We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Oddly enough, a few days after we watched it, I received my Netflix #StreamTeam suggestions for August and guess what the theme was? ADVENTURE! Suggestions included Journey to the Mysterious Island, National Treasure and The Adventures of Mickey Matson!
If your family is into adventure movies like we are, The Adventures of Mickey Matson is worth a watch. It got the thumbs-up from all 4 of my kids ages 8 through 13 🙂 You can watch it by clicking right here.
If you haven’t seen the above-listed films, you will likely enjoy them as well.
This is my first post as a member of the Netflix #StreamTeam and I’m already looking forward to finding out what the #StreamTeam will suggest for us in September!
Also, if you have any favourite family-friendly adventure movies, I’d love to hear your suggestions!
Wishing you an adventure-filled day 🙂
