Our family LOVES Netflix…just not always together đ
While we love streaming together, it’s just not always easy to find something that is appealing to 3 teenagers and suitable for my youngest who just turned 11…
Over the years our family’s favourite ‘bingeworthy’ shows have been Merlin and Once Upon A Time. We also loved Full House and more recently, Fuller House ( New episodes coming on September 22nd!!!), but otherwise it has hard to find ‘bingeworthy’ shows that everyone can agree on…until now.
My Hubby and the kids discovered Timeless about two weekends ago and now it is something that the whole family looks forward to watching together.
As you know, I don’t believe in spoilers, but I will give you a general idea of the show.  Basically it is about a time machine that is stolen by ‘the bad guy’ and then ‘the good guys’ take another time machine back in time to try to catch/stop the bad guy. One of the team members who is part of the mission is a history professor and as such is exceptionally knowledgeable about everything that happened in the various time periods visited. In order to help her team she shares details about history.  My hubby and I love that the kids are learning about significant historical events in a very cool ‘storytelling’ fashion.  I’ll admit that both of us have learned about things we did not know about before as well đ
The team chases the bad guy to various time periods so we get to watch the different fashion, lifestyles and prejudices of the various periods as well. One of the team members is cognizant of the fact that as a black man, he is not welcome in the same places as his white colleagues (depending on which period of time they find themselves in).
We are really enjoying the show and are looking forward to watching more of it. Also, because of the whole ‘good guy bad guy’ aspect, there is action and a level of suspense which makes the show binge-worthy đ
For whatever it’s worth, my youngest says it’s a great show ‘because it teaches us history’ #JustSaying đ
As always, while we are comfortable with our 11 year-old watching Timeless, I believe that different families have different tolerance levels as to what is or is not acceptable. Â I encourage you to visit commonsensemedia.org and to judge for yourself if this show is an appropriate choice for your family đ
Wishing you a great weekend involving family time and some Netflix too đ
Tanya
Disclosure: I receive free Netflix streaming as part of the Netflix #StreamTeam. As always, all opinions contained within my posts are my own. đ

Timeless is an amazing show! So glad it is returning!!
I agree! Timeless is a show that has many themes and characters that teach, entertain and stretch our thinking… I have watched the first season, and will now convince my husband and kids to watch it, while I re-absorb the details of history that I missed the first time!
