Meet Jesse Galganov, a 17-year old, grade12 student at LCC.
On October 12th, Jesse was injured during an LCC football game and received a concussion. Suffering from post-concussve disorder, Jesse is unable to do all the things he should be doing now, most notably reading, studying and applying to university.
Many 17 year-olds would sink into a depression. Imagine working so hard towards the very goal of University admission and then being faced with the possibility of not being able to apply due to an injury. Imagine being one of the team captains and not being able to continue playing in your final year. That would be enough to make anyone sulk…
But not Jesse. Jesse decided to turn a negative into a positive. Rather than focusing on what he CAN’T do, Jesse has decided to focus on something he CAN do which is to “Grow his Mo”, and generate both funds and awareness for Movember to benefit research into prostate cancer.
As he put it:
“Now, blessed and cursed with “post concussion syndrome”, I have been able to use all of my (limited) energy and free time to do just that (raise money & awareness for Movember). Movember has allowed me to turn a negative thing into a positive one…”
I have set a goal of $5,000 for myself and hope that I can reach it. Just because my recovery and university application process is out of my control for the moment, it doesn’t mean I can’t still set other goals for myself and make a positive contribution to other peoples’ lives.”
Jesse is just about $500 shy of his $5000 goal with 3 days left to go.
Let’s help him reach it! Whether you can afford $2 ,$200 or anything in between, every bit will make a difference.
This will not only benefit Movember but will serve as a life lesson to Jesse & his peers that focusing on what you CAN do rather than what you CAN’T really does pay off.
Not only will I be supporting Jesse in his fundraising efforts, I will be sharing his story with my children. What an amazing role model. Straight from the ME generation, comes this fabulous kid with heart, with initiative and without the self-pitying “Poor me” or self-entitled attitude of “I deserve more & better.”
It is for this very reason that Jesse deserves your support in his Movember efforts.
Just do it. You can sponsor him right here at Jesse’s Mo Space.
Thanks for your support.
Wishing you a day filled with positivity,
Tanya
