Let’s Break the World Record: The Great Cloth Diaper Change!

There was a time that I would never have even entertained the thought of cloth diapering.  I bought into the argument that the detergents & water required for washing were worse for the environment that the dirty disposable diapers themselves.

I have since been enlightened and I WISH I had cloth diapered my children.

Cloth diapers today are NOT what they once were and a trip to Bummis when I was developing montrealmom.com revealed that.  Not only are cloth diapers a cinch to use…they’re quite adorable!

I can say that my brother & sister-in-law switched to cloth for Baby #2 and are THRILLED with how it’s going.  They use disposable for travel but otherwise it’s cloth all the way!!!

Click here for a quick crash course on the ins & outs of cloth diapering.

In an global effort to generate awareness about cloth diapering, The Great Cloth Diaper Change has been organized.  In 2011, the Guiness World Record was set for the most babies changed into cloth diapers at the same time: 5,026 participants at 127 locations in 5 countries. The total number of participating hosts (not all qualified for the GWR) reporting were 203 with 6,363 participants from 10 countries!

The Great Cloth Diaper Change 2012 seeks to beat that record, Over 400 communities around the world will participate and Boutique Bummis & Baby Auric Diaper Service will be co-hosting the event in Montreal 🙂

Members of the community are invited to attend this fun-filled family event on Saturday, April 21st to show support for families using cloth diapers, as well as Montreal cloth diaper subsidy programming and local environmental initiatives.

There will be animation, face painting, games and fun for the whole family as well as meet and greet opportunities with fun Montreal parents and local news personalities.

Each adult/baby pair of participants will receive THREE free raffle tickets (There will be over $5000 in giveaways!)

  1. Not to be pedantic, but I’m pretty sure that Earth Day is April 22nd (every year) and not April 21st.

    • You are absolutely correct, Liz. I believe the experience was scheduled for earth day weekend 🙂

  2. I hope Bummis holds this event next year- baby was still in utero last Earth Day!
