So we’re all excited about Target’s arrival here in Quebec and I am doubly excited because I have had the opportunity to test-drive a pair of Denizen Jeans- made exclusively for Target by Levi’s.
So what does a Mom like me look for in a pair of jeans?
First & Foremost:
FIT. They need to fit & flatter or I just won’t wear them. They should also keep that fit for the entire day. My pair of Denizen Essential Stretch Modern Boot Cut that I got for fall does just that 🙂
COMFORT. I need to be able to move around comfortably. My life is hectic and breathless enough. I need to be able to BREATHE when I’m wearing my jeans (especially since this tends to me on my more ‘relaxed’ days, whatever that may be!)
EASY CARE. It may seem like all jeans should be easy to wash but that’s simply not the case. Many who are serious about their denim recommend avoiding washing your jeans at all costs to avoid fading and when doing so dropping them off at the dry cleaner vs. machine washing. Well, as a Mom of 4, I’m forever dripping & spilling and I have zero time to run to the dry cleaner in order to get my jeans cleaned. For me, easy-care is a MUST.
AFFORDABILITY. I’ll admit that I could be persuaded to spend money on a higher-priced pair of jeans if they fit the above 2 criteria, especially if they flatter, but the fact of the matter is, I’d then likely reserve those jeans for ‘special occasions’ fearing that my everyday life would be too messy for them. Finding an affordable option means that I can have more than 1 pair, wash them everyday if I have to and if they do fade in the long run, I can get myself another.
Affordable is important for another reason, and I will admit it: As women, our weight tends to do a lot of shifting both upwards and downwards. Affordable means being able to buy a new size guilt free. And as moms, we honestly have enough guilt without needing to worry about our jeans. Affordable reduces stress.
Well as for the fit, they passed the husband’s “Your butt looks good in those jeans” test. Need I say more?
I needn’t, but I will: It’s not just the LOOK of the fit, but the FEEL of it – I feel “all tucked in” & yet comfortable to move around…Yes. They pass the comfort test 🙂
Easy Care: No problem. Mine shrunk a little in the dryer – but I did that on purpose. I had the choice between a fit that would yield a slight muffin top or a fit that was a touch loose. I went for the latter & shrunk them so that I would be able to continue to put them in the dryer. I have no time to wait for my jeans to drip dry! Also, like you would with any pair of jeans, you may want to wash them once or twice prior to wearing to avoid ending up with blue fingers, blue socks or heaven-forbid, a blue-streaked dining room chair…(years ago…old story…)
Affordabilty: They range from $21.99 – $34.99 /pair. The price speaks for itself.
Save your money. Get a pair of Denizen. Take your extra money to the spa and feel fabulous as you walk out with your nails looking fine & your butt looking better.
Denizen got my attention (and truth be told, my husband’s as well).
I am a fan. No ifs, ands or butts 😉

Until then, have a fabulous day and remember…It’s all in the Jeans.

You sold me! I have a ridiculously difficult time finding jeans that meet those exact criteria. Throw in the fact that I have short legs and I’m doomed. I will definitely give them a try. I’m due for a new pair. Wanna come shopping with me???? lol
Hi Brandy! I would love to come shopping with you but my schedule tells me you may only get them for the winter holidays if you wait for me, lol! Please let me know how you like them! By the way…you’re going to love this: You can get them in “Short” length – I have 2 pairs. The first one I shortened, so I got my second pair in “S” 🙂
Hi Tanya,
This post caught my attention, because I am expecting :), and I got a great pair of Liz Lange maternity for Target jeans there for a very affordable $35 – looking forward to checking out other styles next year!
Timely post, Tanya. I love Levis and mine just died. I will definitely check these out to replace my beloved departed denim. Thanks 🙂
Please let me know how you like them!
