Babkas for Boobies: A Fab Event in Support of Breast Cancer Research – on November 6th

34-year old breast cancer Survivor and Thriver Allison Friedman wants to raise money to support research of the doctor that saved her life. She tells her story as follows:

For those of you who don’t know me, I am Allison. I am a wife, a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a niece, a friend, I work in geriatrics as a rehab educator and now I can add to all the things, I am a breast cancer survivor and thriver.

Exactly one year ago, my life was turned upside down. My husband and I had just moved into a new home,  hoping to start a family. Life was perfect until I found a lump in my breast. Never had I ever imagined that I would be diagnosed with breast cancer at 33 years old. I underwent 16 rounds of chemo, surgery and 20 rounds of radiation. For an entire year, I have been taking an antibody intravenous drip.

Many times people ask me what I learned from this experience. I am so proud to be part of such a generous and kind community and network of family, friends and strangers. So many people nourished my heart, soul and stomach while I was going through my battle. People would come sit with me for my chemo sessions, offer me lifts, and others showed up at my house with meals and desserts, like BABKAS!

Please join me on November 6 to bake for breast cancer, as we raise money for the doctor that saved my life. October is breast cancer awareness month. Please show your support by joining Babkas for Boobies and sharing this event with your network.

I hope that you will all join Allison at Babkas for Boobies on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 (7:30 pm – 9:00 pm) at Chabad TMR for a fun evening of babka baking, inspirational presentations and awesome giveaways. All proceeds from donation and raffle sales will go to Dr. Basik’s Breast Cancer Research Fund at the Jewish General Hospital. Minimum required donation $36. Tax receipts will be emailed after the event. Everyone welcome. #alisteamofbreastfriends
