You ARE Mom Enough.

Being that this will be my last post before Mother’s Day, I wanted to write about a motherhood-related topic.

It seems today that all the buzz is about the Time Magazine’s cover, with a Mom standing up with her 3 year-old, standing on a chair so that his mouth can reach her breast. The related article is about attachment parenting but it’s the title that’s got everyone talking.

I don’t want to give the cover that much of my time except to say this:

YOU ARE MOM ENOUGH.

You, who drop the kids off in your pajamas;
You, who serve hot dogs & freezer fries for dinner;
You, who missed a school pageant because you had to work;
You, who never breastfed because you just weren’t comfortable with it;
You, who breastfed until your child was three years old;
You, who insist your child does his own homework;
You, who take on your child’s projects with vigor;
You, who hasn’t had a minute to do the groceries for a week;
You, who forgot that it was dress-down day, AGAIN;
You who chooses to home-school;
You, who can’t wait for your child to get home from school;
You, who can’t wait for them to go back to school on Monday;
You, who gave birth after 30 hours of labour ending in an emergency C-section
You, who pushed for 5 minutes with no epidural
You, who literally flew to China & back to give a baby a home

Yes, I’m talking to YOU.

You beautiful, wonderful woman who manages to ensure that they are fed and clothed and educated and make it to bed at the end of the day with all four limbs.
YOU who light up their world when you can manage only a half-hearted smile because you’re under a little too much pressure.
YOU, with all your hugs and all your Love.

YOU, my dear, are MORE than Enough.

You are MOM.

For these reasons and more, I wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day.

May you be pampered and hugged, kissed and cherished for the wonderful MOM that you are.

xo

  1. Tanya,

    You, are Amazing. I am sure so many moms will love this and take it to heart. I’ve said it before moms need to
    support one another, not destroy each other. At the end of the day we are all doing what we can to ensure our kids
    grow to be amazing adults.

    Happy Mother’s Day to you too!
    xoxo

  3. You are such a powerful writer Tanya. I am wiping my tears as I type. Actually, you may owe me for water damage to my keytboard. You need to submit this one becuase it touched EVERY guilt ridden mother out there and makes us realize we do not all have the same child rearing philosophies, but that we all deeply and genuinely love our children. I will never judge another mother’s actions or beliefs again. (Within reason!) 🙂

    Happy Mother’s Day T!
