The Poppy Effect

As we go about our busy lives
And deal with work and kids with hives
We cook, we clean, we drive, we meet
We type, we talk, we text, we tweet

We’re always busy, so it seems
Living life, pursuing dreams
We move about at super-speed
With expectations to exceed

Not often do we really see
How lucky we are to be free
Not often do we think of war
Of those who served within the Corps

But once a year, when we get dressed
Above our hearts, a poppy rests
And on this day we lend a thought
To those who served, protected, fought

On the eleventh of November
We take a moment to remember
Those who sacrificed their lives
Who left their daughters, sons & wives

And when this day is done and gone
For one more year we just move on
Forgetting all with which we’re blessed
Without the poppy on our chest

Imagine we could find a way
To take a moment every day
To appreciate, say thanks, reflect
Extending the poppy effect

Wishing you a meaningful day and weekend,

Tanya

  4. Beautiful words from a beautiful person.
May we as mankind have only good deeds and thoughts
    to remember from hereonin.

Remember the saying, “The purpose of life is a life of
purpose” and always remember we are not in a
dress rehersal, so make everyday great.
