My Daughter’s Hair Donation with Pantene Beautiful Lengths™

A long time ago I spoke with my youngest daughter (now 9 years old) about how it’s possible to donate one’s hair to make a wig for someone with cancer who lost their hair, so that they can have hair again which can make them feel better.

IMG_3009 At the time, she didn’t really react much.

During the course of the last school year when we discussed whether or not to cut her hair, I again broached the topic of whether she might like to let it grow long enough to make a hair donation.  This time, she was more interested. We left it at that.

By the time the summer rolled around, she was already starting to get excited to do it and would ask me about it every so often.

As a #PGMom, I am aware of the Pantene Beautiful Lengths™  program which encourages people to share their strength and donate their beautiful, healthy hair to create free wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.  I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to let my daughter make her donation and to spread the word about how people can donate their own hair, should they wish.

IMG_2331I asked my contacts at P&G when this year’s event would be taking place as my daughter was now asking me on almost a daily basis.  I came home from a meeting one night to find her asleep with the following marked on her dry-erase board:

Do you think she was just a LITTLE BIT excited to do this?

Well, I finally found out that National Donate Your Hair Day will be on Saturday, November 7, 2015.

Although we could not ‘make the cut’ on the 7th, we decided to have her hair cut to be donated AHEAD of the annual day of giving so that we could spread the word about when and how others can participate as well 🙂

THERE WILL BE INFORMATION ON HOW TO DONATE YOUR HAIR AT THE END OF THE BLOG POST 🙂

Well, today was my little one’s special day!

We went over to see the fabulous Denis Binet at his awesome studio V pour Victoire in Old Montreal and he got right to work with her 🙂
