Today marks 6 years years since the launch of montrealmom.com.

WOW.

After having spent close to a year writing over 400 pages of content that formed the initial website, the site went live in the morning of January 18, 2010.

I remember counting down the hours until launch on Facebook (which was still a relatively new concept to me at the time).

I remember the moment it went live, thinking that something earth shattering would happen at that very instant and then – nothing. My heart sank. Nothing earth shattering happened. What if nobody liked it?

I remember my husband (who was just hours away from leaving on a business trip overseas) saying: “Can you give people a minute to look at it?  To read something?”

Anxious moments.

Until about 10 or 20 minutes later when my laptop, house line, cell phone, text messages & Facebook messages started beeping all around me – with congratulations pouring in. This was the culmination (I thought) of a labour of love that had been conceived of years earlier but only brought to fruition once all 4 kids were out of the house for enough hours to allow me to pursue my dream.

This was not nearly the culmination – this was simply the beginning.

Who knew then where all of this would lead?

Over the next 9 months, I started using Twitter, launched the blog portion of the site and launched montrealmomTV on YouTube.

And it snowballed from there.

Last year, I had hoped to do something special to mark the 5 year anniversary, but things were so busy that I didn’t even think I ever got a blog post out about it.

Well, this year, we started celebrating last night 🙂

My family took me out for dinner and got me some beautiful gifts (not the least of which was holding off on the usual bickering, LOL!)

Today, I will celebrate by being grateful.

Grateful for 6 years of learning.

Grateful for 6 years of victories, both large and small.

Grateful for 6 years of stamina and energy to get this off the ground and to keep it going.

Grateful for 6 years of support from my family and friends in my endeavour.

Grateful for 6 years of opportunities and for the fabulous brands that I have the privilege of working with over the years.

And last but certainly not at all least- I am Grateful for 6 years of YOU, my readers.

Because if it were not for you stopping by for a read, then montrealmom.com would not be what it is today.

While I am tempted to start listing things I have learned in my journey of entrepreneurship…I will leave that for another post.  I will say this however:

If you can dream it, you can do it.

As per the caption on the journal that my family bought me: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
